Cover for Guitar Player Magazine

I can finally post the work I did for Guitar Player magazine. This was a killer to do because I only had a week and two days to do a two page spread as well as a cover. They needed the inside Zappa spread first, and it took much longer to do than I had thought it would, leaving me only four days to complete the cover. It was nuts, had to pull an all nighter, drank many Monster energy drinks, and the rest is history! I'm really happy with how Zappa's guitar turned out, even though it was a lot of work. Zappa has a distinct SG, very unique and personalized, so when painting his guitar I knew I wasn't going to get away with just painting any old SG, it had to be his . . . with all the nicks and scratches, the whole SHA-BANG!

This issue is currently on the stands and prints are available. If anyone is interested in buying a print, let me know through my email!

Wow Jason I am blown away. The detail is just immense. I really don't know how you do it - especially in such a short time! I am saving for a graphics tablet and looking forward to giving digital painting a go - your work has really inspired me to try! Amazing work sir!

I'm amazed at the detail you're able to pull off in such a short amount of time. I find that roughing in the work is so much fun but by the time I get to the minute details I've almost had enough. Part of my problem is I'm pretty new to this and sometimes my exploration of the details leads me in the wrong direction so I'm having to go back over my work. Great job!

Hi,
I want to buy two of your drawings : the one with all the guitarists and the other with just Zappa grabbing a note.
Can you answer me at spam@romarain.com (don't worry it's one of my personnal email, created for posting on forums).
Thanks !
