Final Gary Buchannon Painting!

I just got back from vacation, had a great time with my wife and two baby girls, watched a lot of Dora the Explorer as well as Wonder Pets. I was able to get some work done as well as some sketching and managed one plein air painting. I also finished Gary, a study and painting in Values, a lesson that I'm working on for Schoolism. I've posted it large enough I think, had fun with the texture of his face, I wish every face was this much fun to explore!

Cool, he has a great 3D feel to him and a luminence. kind of like those old Lincoln photos that have that nice 3D depth.

Wow, man. What a fantastic study. When I saw the thumbnail it read to me as a sculpture. Love the lashes and beard stubble. They just pop it!

Enjoy your vacation Jason? I'm on my way back from Bogota tomorrow morning myself. Gary value painting shows what can be done in black and white. Excellent range and volume.

That lighting is so believable, yet it's almost unearthly. Very, very well done. I'll spend a while studying this one.
