Obama Steamroller for The Weekly Standard

Friday was a crazy day for me. I was called late Thursday night by my friend Philip at The Weekly Standard. He asked if I could do an Obama for him, but at the time he didn't know yet what they wanted me to draw, said he'd have an idea by morning. Thing is, the drawing had to be finished on Friday as well, so another quickie was in the mix. I don't mind, it's good practice, keeps you fresh, and I like a good challenge. Only thing, is for the past week, I had been fighting a cold and on Friday, I had a fever and my cold was at it's worse . . . not the best time to draw and paint.

Early Friday morning I was given the idea for the piece, after finding out what all had to be done I realized that I wouldn't be able to do a painting, so I decided to do more of a sketch with a dash of color under the sketch. The bottom two are the sketches in prep for the final "sketch" or drawing. All in all I did this in about five hours, again something a bit different from me.

Thanks guys! And Marco . . . yeah, it's fun sometimes to be able to do just a sketch for a magazine . . . I'd like to push it a bit further if possible, but sometimes under the gun, you can only do so much.

Looks great, Jason! You really captured him. It's good to be versatile like that.

Awesome Jason, all the ussual brilliant shapes, and a nicely exicuted idea. Careful though, I understand Obama doesn't like people making fun of his ears.

I just finished writing a letter of recommendation for one student that unlike most teen students I've come across the past few years, does not seek the least path of resistence. Understands something of hard work...and must believe in its benefits.

Jason...I commend you...not feeling well, but having the integrity to dig deep. Deeper than many having their best day of health can't seem to overcome tendencies of lazyiness by nature. You set an example...and there should be no surprise (none on my part), why good things come your way in the form of commissions and jobs, some quite lucrative. You aren't afraid of work...and deserve the blessings you are getting honoring the Creator as you do...

I'm impressed...keep it up!

very charming! I saw Obama speak the other night up here in Madison, and that was right as they announced he took Maryland.

He is really steamrolling....and I hope its the last we see of Hillary on a regular basis.
