I'm in MAD magazine . . . Big Whoop!

MAD 489, on stands now! I can finally share this with the world . . . I painted this a year ago, so it's great to finally see it in print! Been a dream of mine since I was 9 or 10, to draw for MAD, so it feels great to finally look through an issue with my work in it. My favorite part about the whole thing was working with art director Sam Vivano, he's a great art director, and I hope to work with MAD more in the future just so I can continue to learn from Sam. It's a fantastic issue, has great work in it from Hermann Mejia . . . worth the whole $4.99 just for his stuff!

Well, after that, where do you go? I mean, it's MAD!!

Congratulations, Jason. Here's to many more opportunities that I'm sure you'll have to grace the pages of MAD!

Well done Jason! I guess MAD magazines pretty big?! - I've never seen it in Britain - only read other artists rave about it! The painting is really awesome - if I could I'd get the magazine just for that! Really nice hands BTW!!!:)

WOW! Awesome piece Jason! Congrats on joining "The Ususal Gang of Idiots!". That's some good company!! I remember Mort Drucker's "If different comedians..." piece from the 80's!

Terrific Jason.. and pretty damn excellent as well! Dare I mention that I used to buy Mad for 25 cents.. and it said "cheap" on the cover. They (Mad) have done well to pass the torch your way. Do the competitors still publish Cracked?

Thank you sooo much! I'm excited to finally get into MAD, was a fun time working on the art too. The only art staff that wants the artist to be cruel . . . . that can be fun . . . most art directors want the art to be funny, but not cruel . . . it was a different way of thinking . . . but loads of fun.

William, I did work for Cracked a few years back, they are the worst people I have ever worked for. They keep trying to re-surface, I will NEVER work for them again, the most unprofessional group of people I have ever worked with.

Funny what you said about Cracked. I did some work for them last year (as they tried to resurface)...they wanted a bunch of photo manipulation done, not caricature work. Since I can do that stuff, I did it for a few issues and I have to agree with what you said. Really unprofessional. And the work they wanted wasn't funny, it was crass. Complete toilet humor.

I eventually told them I didn't want to do anymore.

Mad magazine is of the devil. You should forsake the evil anger of "Mad" and do nicer, more wholesome magazines. Repent and be happy.
