Speed Painting #1

On the National Caricaturist Network forum, there's a thread called "speed painting". I've never really tried it before, or at least really timed myself. On the thread many artists post their quick digital paintings . . . good practice . . . so here's a 20 minute speed painting that I did today of Court Jones.

Thanks Guys!!! Junior Lopes, I'll check your work out in a bit.

Terry, yes the whole thing . . . 20 to 25 minutes . . . I had to stop for a few minutes to talk on the phone.

do you do all your work in Photoshop? Because you always seem to maintain a more painterly look in your work.

Dan,
I love painting with oil and acrylics, but don't really have the time do that as much as I would like. So most of what I paint is done in photoshop, especially for publication work. I make my own brushes and textures, and I try to paint as I would traditionally . . . trying to not abuse what a computer can do, rather use it as a tool to create art.

Yea I always check out your work, your pretty awesome dude. I stop by your blog all the time hoping some of your genius rubs off on me. A lot of times I check your blog in my graphic design class/lab and everyone sitting around me seems to gravitate over to my screen to see your work.

Awesome photoshop painting I'm still getting the hang of it but I always end up with a more smooth appearance I seem to lose the painterly effect. oh well, great work man.
